top 10: infomercials
no. 10: Chia Pet
First aired in 1982

Whoever envisioned this idea of "watching a plant grow" is a genius. The
marketing was so great on this. I think that unless you've been hiding under
a rock for the past 30 years, you remember this oldie, but goodie.

no. 9: The Clapper
First aired in 1986

What the heck was that old woman wearing (around :13 - :14)?! Ahh, I love the 80's! But I certainly don't miss the clothes. The melody of the jingle and those easy to remember lyrics will forever keep The Clapper in our hearts.

no. 8: Hoveround Power Wheelchair
First aired in 1992

Ok, first off: how did them old ladies get up there?! Were they air dropped into the Grand Canyon? I'm not sure which is better: that the old ladies were just chilling in the middle of the Grand Canyon or that the Hoveround can pull a van. Good to know. "Hey grandpa! How bout a tow?"

no. 7: Ginsu
First aired in 1978

This commercial is great because it features ridiculous comparisons in order to further promote their product. Chopping wood; slicing through a tin can; "slices bread so thin you can almost see through it"; AND there's a matching fork that comes with it. I'm sold!!

no. 6: Wunder Boner
First aired in 1994

This commercial is so cheesy and over the top that one must believe that they
did it on purpose. The product name in itself is memorable, not to mention the
grade A acting. And no buddy, your wife would NOT like the Wunderboner.
That is unless you 2 were on the show, "My Big Fat Redneck Wedding."

no. 5: Mr. Microphone
First aired in the 70's

The Mr. Microphone commercial does a good job of appealing to various
groups of people: children, elderly, couples from New York dressed like Santa,
spoiled little rich girls. I mean, come on! Does that little girl really need all
those Mr. Microphones?.

no. 4: Loud 'n Clear
First aired in 2008

This commercial is great because it starts with helping the sweet little old lady
hear the bingo score to the slimy guy eavesdrop. Also impressive is that you
get 2 of them. Sooo.. one for each ear?.

no. 3: Instant Hair Plus
First aired in the 80's

I think that everyone remembers these commercials. It looked so amazing on
screen but you knew that it was most likely a sham. Again, gotta send out my love to the 80's fantasticness. Love the mullet!!

UPDATE: When researching to find the original air date for this classic, I found a
forum filled with people desperately searching for this product. Some referred to
"buying cases" of the stuff. So maybe it did work afterall.?

no. 2: Life Call
First aired in 1992

This made our number 2 spot because it was so memorable and so funny.
Everyone knows and has made a reference to it at least once in their life:
"Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"

no. 1: Hawaii Chair
First aired in 2006

Finally, our number 1 infomercial. This became our top pick because it shows
that infomercials are still here to stay. With this day and age's explosion of
the internet, this commercial became viral fast. Has anyone actually bought
one of these?.
